In case anybody is wondering what I was thinking with this shot... well, uh... I wasn't.

My original plan was to peel two pears in a spiral and "reassemble" them interlocked on the marble- "Paired Pared Pears." Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to support the darn things and it was an utter failure.

I remembered GrandWazoo's levitation photo as being a decent depiction of Zen, so I just took this snapshot of a hovering marble at 11:30pm to make sure my WPL team had 4 entries. If not for that, I wouldn't have bothered. :-(

FWIW, the lighting was not dodged & burned. That spotlight was made the hard way.

cool shot, but all I can think about is how that marble is going to make loud sounds clanking onto the marble surface, but it's just hanging there, not going anywhere... actually puts me off ease, guess I might just be a weirdo, lol

Good job! Did you burn around it, or was the lighting that way already?

I really like this idea. I think I would've liked it better if the surface had been pure white. The lighting is perfect.

clever. It's not too terribly interesting in itself, but the title does help.

I love this! Great use of color (minimal) and light (minimal). The overall feeling of this photo is simplicity. My idea of a zen photo is one that my eye is not so drawn into the details of the photo, making it busy. Yours does not do that, my focus is on one thing only, my eye is at rest. The position of the marble is perfect for this shot, and whatever you used as the background works perfectly as well. I thought the shot before this one was my fave, but now yours is! Great job from the 'Great Job Baggie'...

interesting. i wish i could see the reflection in the marble better, perhaps that would have negatively effected your use of negative space. i'm wanting the white marble to be closer to white. perhaps i just have a high contrast fetish from spending too much time on this site.

nice! very visual piece of art here. having it floating is very clever, as it increases it's zenness ten fold. it is reminiscent of something, but not sure what... 8.

really great idea, i may have chosen a slightly different background to make the most of the great green marble :o)

Excellent stop motion. I like the simplicity and light. In this regard, I believe it is very close to a Zen-like composition. Can I ponder deep thoughts when I look at this? Possibly. Is this quiet and serene imagery? I guess so, since you have 'stopped' any imminent sound and there are no glaring colours or busy lines.

What I mean to say is, imo, for an image to be truly Zen, it would be a scene in which I was able to rest my mind 'visually'. To a certain degree, you have achieved this and that's as good as a 10 for me.

Love the dash of green on overall white background. The float and shadow add to drama. Hope this does well for you.8.

Wow that is a great freeze. This would do well in the stop motion challenge that you didn't know about until this was already entered!

Nice job with the focus and timing. I also like the spotlight emphasizing the marble. Only complaint is the oddly shaped lower light reflection in the marble, but that's kinda unavoidable.
