Selective lightening of the jetskier was done using a duplicate layer, lightening it and applying a layer mask revealing only the lighter version of the jetskier with a slight gaussian blur to the layer mask to smooth the edges. I had to do this because the sun lit him from behind making him too dark. Neat Image. Two passes of smart sharpening, one with high radius and low amount to increase the local contrast and one with low radius and high amount to sharpen the image. Good thing this was an advanced editing challenge.

Hi from the Critique Club.

First impression: Flying water and fun!

Technicals: Technically this image looks good. To my eyes the focus looks sharp and colors are clear. Tough lighting and it provides good impact with the brightly lit water droplets.

Composition: I agree with one of your commentators. A slightly off center crop would strengthen the image. IMHO, a little more above his head would also give the picture more dynamic strength. It just needs a little more context.

Post Processing: You made nice work with the tough lighting conditions. Your sharpening system seems to have worked rather well too.

Good score in the challenge, anything approaching 6 means you struck a cord with some of the voters.

I’m not an expert so PM me with any questions or comments. Keep shooting!

Mark

Cool jump! He's getting up there. You've caught the action at the pivotal moment is seems. Water is nicely frozen - maybe a little hot but not bad. The jetski is well focused and I'm not sure how you could have composed this any differently for better impact. Should do ok with this. Good luck.

nice idea, but a bit too soft.

Great stop! Try placing the subject off-center for a bit more drama.
