I love this picture. There was some kind of protest march and my eye caught this child holding up this protest board that reads "Rage".This child won't be old enough to read for at least 2 or 3 years and I was struck by the irony of the picture. I took a few shots and caught this moment at exactly the right time when this smiling joyful child looks up at the board.

Photoshop: Neat Image. Selective lightening of the subject and darkening of the background using layer masks. Converted to B&W using the lightness channel in Lab mode. Duotones. Smart Sharpen.

Oh crap! I really had high hopes for this one. Oh well, try try again :)

I really liked this one. I loved the the irony of it, which I see is something you liked as well. Under rated in my opinion. Nice job! My only comment is the childs face seems a touch over Neat imaged (IMHO) as I'm not a fan of neat imaged portraits.

So simply and directly you convey something that could take hours to explain. A child innocently holding up an emotion he does not understand. The way we lift up signs without truly knowing what they signify, the way we get into lines and parades and demonstrations and offices and try to feel a certain way because we are scheduled to do so, and because we have flat white helpers with big letters.

One can sense consequences right outside the frame. The photo is funny and tragic at the same time... mostly tragic in the time and mood I am in. 10

Validated? Heh. Did someone think you changed the word? You do have to wonder what that sign is all about. Nice photojournalism-type shot.

A happy-looking child who has perambulator rage? ;>รพ

I like the lighting - you've handled the shadows very well.

This is fantastic in itself (the kid's expression, the bottle in the back of the stroller, the fact that this child is holding a sign called RAGE in the first place), though a bit of context would be nice...this does seem to lend itself nice to a good photojournalistic shot. In other words, about what is the child apparently protesting? Interesting title, by the way. I'm voting (8) though I don't know if I'll get through 20% on this challenge.

Lovely tones and the child's expression is a delight to behold making the sign rather misplaced. :)

The image, I love. The black and white conversion is very well done. My issue is with the title. So much more could have been said about the moment, the scene, than what I get right now. But I'm not going to deduct points for that - it was your personal choice (I will say, with the right title, it would have been so much easier to click the 10!). Yes, there are distracting elements that people at DPC will say you should have corrected, but this is a defining moment image. If you had waited for the two to pass and gotten a clean shot, you may have missed this perfect moment. Or you may have had a pissed off mother - some people are weird about taking pics of their kids. DPC wants set up shots and you can't get around it. So if this scores below a 6, take it with a grain of salt. The image is worth much more than that. The contrasting tones work perfectly with the contrast in the scene itself. The focus and DOF are spot on. Its a keeper. In some odd way, I think the image wouldn't be the same without the two in the background - having the child alone would make it seem too posed - we know this was a candid moment by the inclusion of the other people. At any rate, having gone full circle around the image (in my head), having looked at 100 other images - mostly of sunsets or people staring off into space - I feel compelled to click 10 - my favorite in the challenge so far.
