 A flower. I'm trying to learn how to backlight effectively, though I must admit this shot is a bit of an accident.

I adjust the brightness/contrast a bit, and saturated the colors. Overall, I like it, but it does seem to be a bit off in the exposure in spots.

How it fits the challenge -- The flower represents life. The tree in the background is one that is apparently dead; it did not bud/bloom all summer. Life and death go together.

I accidentally stumbled upon this shot whilst playing the random number thumbnail game on the forums...and it's beautiful! Lovely job, even with your exposure difficulties. I'm so glad I got the opportunity to see it! :o)

i think a fill-flash would have done wonders for this. it would illuminate the flower without losing the silhouetting on the trees in the background. really like the setup though.

This does not seem very clear... the flower is hard to see and the bright sun is a bit much ....would another angle help this? Or maybe later in the day when the sun was down more?
