I have entered several hummingbird shots into DPC contests over the past 4 years, but I think this one is my favorite. The conditions were perfect and this beautiful female rubythroat cooperated with an unusual pose. Taken with on camera flash only. Cropped, levels, curves, saturation, sharpened and some cloning to remove some minor distracting elements.

Dang! This makes my heart hurt. One day before I die, I pray for a photo even half-way as perfect as your hummingbird shots!

A good example of using the right shutter speed to enhance the motion here, while still keeping the main body sharp. Well done.

Great capture. The dark background really works here to highlight him. I like the motion of the wings.

Very good job of capturing a very difficult stop action photo, and with a backdrop to really make the hummer stand out. Well done!

Stunning capture of this hummingbird in flight. It seems caught in suspended animation so that we can fully appreciate the beauty of this tiny creature. Great still on the beating wings - one still sees all the beautiful details of the wings while the image still mantains the capture and feel of motion.

This is an amazing shot. The warm colors of the hummingbird works great with the rich green background. This is definately one of my favorites. I hope to get this good one day.

FINALLY a hummingbird shot that isn't your run of the mill snapshot at the old feeder. For all I know this may also be right at the feeder but it sure doesn't look like it. This is oozing with artistic flair and it looks like some thought was put into this shot before clicking the shutter. The background works very well and the lighting is superb. Kudos. Hope you do well.

Of all the hummingbird shots in this challenge, this one is clearly the best! 7.
