It reminded me of part of Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" ... the ship's renegade HHeuristically-programmed ALgorithmic computer was disabled by the pilot floating down a narrow service passage, and it's on-screen avatar was a close-up of a lens staring out from whatever wall you happened to be looking at.

Shot into the lens at super-close range, as reflected in the facing of my Mac G4 at work.

The red is a nice touch. It turns a boring image into something more threatening - you pull in 2001 in your title, but there's something far more 1984 here. Good work!
