Too bad about the glow over the mountains; when your brightness/contrast change is this extreme you are better off using almost no feather on the selection. But this photo will probably do very well, it sure has enough wow-factor!

How you've managed to make a wrecked pontoon look so romantic and magical I really don't know but I do know it demonstrates enormous talent! I shall be checking back and hope you give us more information on how you captured and processed this incredible image.

if i were standing where you were, i don't think i would have seen any merit in photographing such a mess; i like derelict stuff as much as the next arty farty fellow, but here all i would have seen is something without shape, coherence, sense of meaning or history or anything. but you obvoiusly saw something, and by jove, you were so right! it's wonderful, it really feels like the jetty was born into this environment. the use of a wide angle and presenting in portrait works really well, and does indeed give the posts a sense of shape and scale. and the more explorative viewer is rewarded with a stunning view and gorgeous sky, which compliments the jetty, rather than competes for attention with. the colours, predominantly those bluey greys, are super. 9.

Love it... it takes real talent to photograph a subject that is not extremely asthetically pleasing by nature, and to be able to make it this beautiful and intriguing. 10.

Wonderful image. Nice post processing. Might have cloned the boat in the distance out, maybe a tad distracting. I found my eye gravitating there. However, it really doesn't take away from the main subject, nor the background nor sky, nor the image as a hole. Well done (9)

At the end of the day all that remains is the reminents of man's creation. I think that this composition really does well to capture the mood of the passage of time and that what man creates does not stand up to the test of time. Because, eventually, the tides of time come and wash away what once was. Once there was a dock here - life teemed here with men making their way to this dock to fish and/or perhaps just contemplate. But it is no more - only the foundation - the bones remain and eventually they too will be swept away. Wonderfully composed picture.
