 So we spend ten days at Allegheny State Park and expect to get tons of cool pics to be able to submit to challenges - with a Free STudy available no less. I come home with one pic that is FS worthy and I edit away and submit. Two days later I take the kids to the zoo (a weekly adventure) and as we are walking along in Africa my son starts getting excited about "walking through the cloud". The lowest part of the path through Africa has a mister that just pours off this really fine mist. I start taking pics of the kids walking through. I want them to sort of slow down but every time I yell they just turn around and look at me. SO I let them run off and pop off acouple of pics as they go. I took tons of other pics in hopes of FS material but they didnt come out strong (see my recent animal shots). I open this up and do a quick edit and post it to my portfolio and send my wife the link to see it. Within the 5 minutes or so it takes for her to open it I pull 3 comments and a favorite. She calls and tells me to pull it quick that it should be my FS entry. So I hide it and start working on the editing. Way more editing than I did on the original post. And so I submit this shot - a Deja Vu of sorts from my Soft Focus entry. I originally called this "No Handbag" when it was just in my portfolio but now I need to come up with something cool. Good thing I still have 18 days to think about it.

Post process - levels, sat/desat all over the place, burning & dodging all over the place, selective curves, cloned out some sun spots, crud on the path and the drain cover, USM, NI, crop and rotate, border, resize for web.

23 in a free study is nothing to sneeze at, but this great and should have finished higher, a really great image.

I knew this was yours when I saw it. I wish I had been as smart to pull my Brothers picture for the October FS, but, I wasn't. You definitely pulled it off much better this time!

And yet another addition to your top row! (I show six for everybody). And this one has Rowan in it, so now you need to get Aidan into the top ten. I didn't get through the whole challenge this time so I didn't see this one - I'd have recognized it, though, from your earlier entry and because of Rowan. A lovely balance of just about everything all around. Top 25 and a score above a 6.5 doesn't suck! :-)

Tim, this shot was underrated I reckon...but with 612 images in the challenge, competition is tough...love the light in this and the nice balance in the composition

Wonderful shot, congrats. One minor, constructive crit: I'm not a sharpness nit, but the boy could be a bit sharper here; I'm sure it can be done in postrocessing.

Its funny, im doing a series of these types of photos... so for this one I get to be extra picky! Good color, great fog, great light. You could crop the top off to make it more dramatic I believe.

Nice image. Maybe a crop a quarter over from the right, and a quarter up from the bottom would be interesting to try. Also selective levels on the greenery surrounding the portal might be helpful.
