I found this idea thumbing through one of our old Far Side books. The original had a painter trying to paint fruit that was jammin' to a banjo. I thought the camera would suit this audience better. Set up the shot outside since all we have for lighting are two $15 desk lamps! Lots of tooth picks and tape! Thank you to my gorgeous model - the Olympus 2020z! Hee hee - just kidding Sweetie! I wonder how many folks might think this is a Timfythetoo shot during voting. :)

Levels, dodge, burn, blur, clone, unsharp mask, saturation/desat, hue saturation, moved karate apple & my model slightly (love that "no major elements thing"), painted in an edge of background , border, save for web, neat image.

************************************

Yay! Top ten! I had a 7+ score on this until vote 234 so I had high hopes for my first 7. That part was disappointing but....yay top ten! Thank you to the voters (especially those before 234 - hee hee!) and I really apreciate those comments.

Aimee - AWESOME score and great finish! I can only dream of scores in that range and you just sort of rack 'em up! Good job on beating the hubby, too.

Congrats on your top 10 Aimee! This is a wonderful and humorous shot. I love the expressions and animation and especially appreciate how you did it in-camera. The white plate adds nice contrast to the dark BG. As always, your creativity and talent with fruit shines through!

This was one of my 10s. Now I notice some patchy cloning-out stuff on the background. The facial expression is great, a mixture of consternation and exasperation. (and I still read that as Timmy-the-Foo...) ;>þ

Way to go Woman!!! It might not have hit 7 but you have a new personal best - and even better it looks as though I wont be leaving your profile page for quite some time. Excellent work (and one more win over me).

One of my favorite recreations because of its sheer force of flight of fancy and then a super well prepared shot. Congratulations on your top ten finish.

What kind of camera do you have? Looks almost like mine but you have a lens on there. Just trying to find out if I can add one to mine.

Gave you an 8 this is a very funny idea.

Love the pipe cleaners and eyes you added to the fruit. Love how some of them are really active - one is doing a cartwheel while another seems to be doing a karate mid-air leap! Presentation of the concept is simple, clean, and very effective. I think the photographer/model could have furrowed his brow in anger more so the emotion is conveyed stronger by his facial expression without the help of the caption. One last observation, (and perhaps this is just my monitor)but the lens of the camera and the hair of the photographer blends in too much with the background. I think it is intrigal to the concept that the camera's shape be very visible to the eye and in this composition most of the lens body disappears into the background. Gamma correction, Brightness & Contrast or even a slightly less dark background would make the camera more distictive from the background.

I like how you DPCified the challenge, replacing the painter with the photographer. And you made your own fruit models. Actually I was going to give you a seven, but Im bumping you to an 8 considering that fact now.
