Lens: Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
Location: Cannon Beach, Oregon

Processed from RAW, HDR Tone Mapping on a single exposure

Relatively little PS work involved; Gradients (very slight) top & bottom, a little local dodging lower right rock and on waves, a little burning left abutment. A touch of color balance to remove a faint green tinge. NO hue/sat, No selective color :-)

Resize, USM, border, save for web.

*******

HDRI makes an astonishing difference in this image; I'll post a best-possible contrast masking example after challenge if anyone's interested.

Unaltered original, except resizing:

This remains a phenominal example of how, in the right hands, HDR can be a wonderful tool. Saw this on the "recently commented" page - brought back memories!!

So nice; so eye pleasing; beautiful pink and blues; what makes this is the fantastic is the mist and haze qualities contrasted with the fact that you can see so deeply into the picture with clarity and depth to the horizon. makes it surreal.

One of the few HDRs I actually think has had correct and balanced application. Lovely scene.

this is by far my favourite photo in this challenge, I'm ashamed that my poor oversaturated photo was somehow voted higher than this masterpiece. It says a lot about the tastes of the dpc voters that this didn't break the 9 barrier.

Good clean work. processing and sense of composition are spot on, and it's really nice to see a landscape not overblown and wiped out in processing in an attempt at 'drama'. This is good stuff.
