I have tried to capture lightning, successfully and unsuccessfully, for many years and have a true appreciation for how difficult it is.

A good lightning capture and the way it "hits" behind the tree is good as it leads our eye all the way down to that tree

I don't know what you did to this, but it looks weird...the halos around the trees are much too intense, and there's some brush stroke-like action going on in the sky. I suspect you tried to lighten an otherwise very dark shot, but the PP here ends up being counter-productive.
