It's Pinhead from the Hellraiser movies. This idea came into my head as soon as I started the SP challenge but I had no idea of how I was gonna pull it off. I didn't want to make the nails in photoshop as they'd probably look too fake from lack of Photoshop skills so I had to find a way to get the nails 'into' my head. I tried even making a wire mask but it was very hard to fit it tightly enough and I ended up with lots of scratches on my face and burns from soldering. I tried using eyelash glue but it wouldn't dry fast enough. Then I found that double sided tape would hold a match in place so I bought a few boxes of matches, some aluminium coloured paint and went for it.

Here is my original shot before I hit Photoshop.

My left eye is red because one of the matcheskept falling so I quickly dabbed it with some superglue to help it stay put...the fumes were terrible so I learnt a lesson there! ;)

This took me about 10 hours editing and has been the most advanced thing I've ever done. Overall, I'm quite happy with the result and I learnt soooo much about layers and layer masks at the same time! :)

Lack of photoshop skills, huh? It seems that you've got enough creativity and skill to make it, I think. Excellent image, very impressive!

Neil, this is beyond incredible. Truly something I'd expect to see on an album cover, a poster for a movie, or a video game cover. REALLY REALLY well done with the post processing, but what I truly admire is your vision and the effort you made to execute it. Awesome accomplishment!

Awesome work, pinhead. 10 hours of processing and probably another 5 or 6 getting ready. That's a lot of work for a daily SP. I'm in awe.

HAHAHA! Do you see the trap you've set for yourself? The higher you set the bar, the more you wanna head to the bar. ;-) You have given me some things to think about though--- Maybe I'll Deja Vu befor this thing is over. I love spoofing. ...but I hate phishing. ;-) Later.

...edit to add: Imagine , Neal, with your photography skills and our combined imagination and processing skills, we could spend thousands of hours creating freakishly entertaining images! ...while our families starve to death. ;-)

Be careful with superglue - it has cyanide in it and can kill you. ...then who'd snap the pic?? :-P

AWESOME JOB!
