Aperture: f/5.6
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/25th
Galleries: Landscape, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Oct 3, 2006

It was early morning after sunrise and I was unable to gain access to the Willamette river view I wanted because there was way to much vegetation blocking my way to the shore. A brief view through the fog produced this wonderful image in the trees and undergrowth looking toward the river.

The picture does not make an impressive thumbnail, but was a special moment to experience.

Post:

2-Standard 'Levels' adjust

4-'Hue/Saturation' for aditional green and yellow contrast
5-'Channel Mixer' for B&W conversion - no adjustments
6-Crop and resize for web
7-Two applications of CS2 smart sharpen

I missed commenting on this one, Steve. Congrats on your 4th place with this nicely done rendition of ethereal light. I remember doing one similar in the redwoods thirty years ago, and how fine I felt when it actually came out the way I'd visualized it :-)

Well done Steve, I was convinced you had it in the bag and went to bed only to discover the voters had speeded up overnight. Anyway, my shot was illeagal so I'm pleased to be able to step aside and give the 4th spot to a superb image. It was one of my top picks.

Very nice shot. I love how the light slices through the trees, especially where it lights the shrub in the bottom right corner. The level of detail captured here is also very impressive. The one thing that distracts me ever so slightly is the trees in the top left of the photo. The way they lean inward breaks up the harmony in the lines created by the radiating sun and the trees standing vertical. Not a big deal at all. Overall one of the most impressive shots in this challenge. I hope this finishes well.
