Mushroom growing on a tree in my front yard. Was actually shooting for the Morning challenge but I love the way the light hit the water. The long exposure helped with the long rain drops.

The rain was supplied by my wife spraying water form a hose.

Post challenge:

Whew! I was dangerously close to gettting a ribbon!

Thanks to everyone for the awesome comments and all the votes. Watching the score on this one was interesting. The morning after roll over it was at 5.9. From then it steadily rose until it broke 7 on the last day. Bounce in and out of the 7 range until right before roll over it was 6.9959. I guess a few low voters didn't get to 20% to explain the 7+ finish.

Thanks to all.

Tremendous work to make mushrooms look like flowers. great lighting and values. I love how your eye is forced right to where the brightest light is and darkest tree bark.

This should have gotten a ribbon.

See, this is why DPC is not the best way to judge your pictures. I go by the comments people give, and not by the score you get, because people who post comments are distinguished from those obnoxious few who like tampering with the voting system (yes, you know who you are!). People who post comments that sound proffesional usually know what they're talking about.

And btw, almost everyone who posted a comment here gave this pic a very score.

I love the way you captured the raindrops in long exposure. The translusence of the mushrooms is incredible. I wish you could have used a different background.

Excellent!!!!!!!!!

I normally hate flower pictures (if this is even a flower), but you made this one interesting with a beautiful perspective).

I gave a 10 because i still dont know how you got the drops to scatter like that.

P.S. it was so good a came back to take another look :)
