actually shot in the afternoon for better light,

ran the holga action, multiply layers, screen layer, burn, spot tone, i think that's it.

------------

i just get better and better - lowest score yet! ah well, my genius is unrecognized ;-)

i debated for a long time over the gaussian blur, but kept it in the end, being more indicative of the morning blur. sharpness actually seemed to work against this shot.

Oh, hey! You got unjustifiably hammered on this one :-) I gave it a 7 myself, it was one of my favorites in the challenge. I guess it's no surprise that so many people reacted negatively, but I think the image is very well done, stark and moody and true-to-life. I'm gonna fave it, least I can do :-)

Critque Club Review:

Technical: Focus is good, and depth of field works for this photograph. Brightness and contrast are done well.

Reaction: Over-sharing! Looking at your comments, your bio, and other work, this was obviously done to provoke a reaction. Looks like by the scores you got what you were looking for. By that I mean that I sense you were not necessarily aiming for a low score, but just for people to feel something, anything, about this image. Unfortunately voters here do not seem to separate feelings from votes. Something that makes us uneasy, or is graphic, gets low marks. Happy pictures get high marks.

It isn't all about the marks. And I'm impressed that you are willing to submit a picture that you know will get voted down, in order to have an image that will provoke a reaction.

I have to confess I probably would not have made this one of my top ten. It is more a reaction piece in my mind. But still I feel that this could have been say top 30 if not 20, based on somebody willing to say something other than saturation and sunsets.

Nice Job!

Though likely accurate for most, probably a little to graphic.

Ha, Ha (lol). I just did this same type of photo on faceless. It actually generated my highest score to date (not sure if that's anything to brag about, lol).

Good sense of humor.

The subject matter is...well, I'll reserve comment.

I will say, however, that I think it works well in black & white, and I like the dark, soft focus you have created.

This's just wrong on so many levels it's gripping, earthy, and imminently voteable.

5: I hope the model was just acting! The blurry OOF feel is good in it's place but I don't think that place is this photo. There is nothing left that seem in focus - which is what I'd expect to see in order to draw my attention somewhere
