Moonee Ponds Railway Station near my home. I thought there might be a gazillion trains in this challenge, so I shot something a little different. Deep blue sky worked well here and I went to greyscale and duotone.

Convert to grayscale, duotone, some USM, dodge and burn, sharpen and blur tools. Slight Noise reduction, Resize, border and some minor touch ups with dodge and burn.

Hoping for a 6.2 perhaps???

POST CHALLENGE: Well hoped for a 6.2 and ended up with a 6.57XX and 11th place. I really thank everyone for all of the comments. It's funny how the images you think will do well, don't and the ones you think will do averave, do better than you thought.

As for the border, it seems it's a love it or hate it thing. It seemed to polarize commenters. I like it. I think it adds to the image. But that's just my opinion.

Thanks everyone for the votes and comments...

like the soft browns, grays, and ivory tones... not quite sure I like the framing but I do like the perspective -- one of my favorites this challenge

Great angle! Very creative abstract. The duotone is nice here as well. Maybe a little too much border, but not a major concern.

beautiful composition. OK Im back, Im bumpin this one up a couple notches. It amazes me how well you composed something so simple. Not to mention, I cant even imagine how you got the depth focus so clear. I'm betting, a really expensive lens. LOL. GL.

I really think you captured the essence of railroading with this image. You took the mundane and sent it on to the next level. In my opinion, and there are many good ones, this is the 'cream of the crop' in this Challenge. I hope you do well. I'll do my part with a "10"

Such a thick border on top/bottom actually distracts from the image.

awesome image. great composition, focus and point of view. i don't like the border being wider on top and bottom of the image. also on the part of the sign that reads "rail" it looks like the sharpening is a little too strong. i also like the slight blur in the corner. at first glance i thought the corners were out of focus. looking at the image a bit closer i think you added them later. it might actually look a little better if the effect was just a little weaker and shaped a little different in the top left corner. anyway - definately a great image!
