Location: De Pere, WI
Date: Nov 7, 2006
Aperture: 4.5
ISO: 100
Shutter: 0.4"
Galleries: Candid, Portraiture
Date Uploaded: Nov 7, 2006

I had this image in my mind for a few days and was running out of time to shoot it. My computer crashed and had to be rebuilt. Molly is my wife and very graciously agreed to pose on her 30th birthday. Thank goodness the kids were asleep.

One hot light to her left with a piece of wax paper as a diffuser, and a black sheet to her right to block reflections of the wall. Shot in our living room. I bumped up the exposure in RAW, but no other editing was done (other than resize for web).

fragmentation is always an interesting technique in photography. Fragmentation of an artist/performer is rich with figurative meanings. Separating the mind from the hands is particularly rich. I wonder if this would have been stronger if the hands were frozen instead of motion blurred... 7

The capture of the reflection is excellent. The motion blur really detracts from the overall quality of this image. 6. Without motion blur, I would have given it an 8.
