(don't know if the link will work... it's in the Challenge Results forum though).

This is quite creative. Good shot
08/18/2002 08:46:00 PM
i had this idea! well, sort of... I thought doing an empty shell would have been great for the "something old" challenge. but, of course, i got the idea after the challenge was over. this is even better for something new. great shot, very well done. ~mcmurma

This is a great macro with perfect focus! You must have been thrilled to find this shot. With the wing so green, is there added saturation?
08/18/2002 02:26:00 PM
Impressive! Good representation of the challenge topic! Good depth of field and composition.
08/17/2002 05:35:00 PM
My favorite this round, the composition is excellent. The only thing I'd like different about it is a little bit more color - 10
08/17/2002 01:54:00 AM
My highest score this week, love the colors, 10
08/16/2002 11:43:00 PM
What an incredible shot. The wing is.....so pure....It's toobad the background is so much like the color of the ?bug? I know you had no control of that but is just detracts from the subject. =7 syamjonimi

This is a cool shot. Having grown up with the locust and played with their hard shells it brings back lots of memeories. Also a nice clear pic.9
08/16/2002 07:12:00 PM
Wow, amazing capture. Gross yet strangely fascinating. Great clarity nice colors. 10 md
08/16/2002 12:32:00 PM

08/16/2002 03:35:00 AM
Nice shot! Cool to see the before and after of the metamorphosis.
08/15/2002 11:02:00 AM
Wow! I love this picture. You were so lucky to find this. You should be on the top 3.
08/15/2002 05:46:00 AM
Magic – possible winner… Composition is outstanding, use of macro is outstanding the DOF is perfection and the content is stunning. Could have been cut out of 'National Geographic' and it meets the challenge with aplomb… Easy 10++… Good luck, if this doesn't appear right up there with the best I'll be very surprised.
08/14/2002 09:17:00 PM
Wo. How'd you get that shot. I love bugs (7)
08/14/2002 03:38:00 PM
UGGGH!! Now THAT's a face only a mother could love!! What sort of creature IS this?
Okay- I'm back in control (I don't do insects!)
Nice execution!: DOF, clarity, focus, transparency in the wings, setting, angle....
(okay, still UGGH... sorry.)
Don't worry, my personal aversion does not affect my scoring! ;-)
Definately meets the challenge.
(okay... next picture!) ;-)

What a wonderful catch and a superb macro. The cicada and its old skin are even on a marvelous textured backdrop. crisa58
08/14/2002 09:40:00 AM
Holy moly! This is so disgusting! ;) I'm truthfully teasing because I hate insects, but this is just such an amazing shot that I give it a 10! Wow! Awesome composition, awesome focus, amazing detail, fits the challenge perfectly! Gross! ;) Nice catch!
08/14/2002 06:52:00 AM
Wow. What an amazing photo opportunity.
08/13/2002 10:37:00 PM
I really like him. I am just very impressed that he's standing there next to a shed skin. The only way I could have pulled this off is to use one of the unfortunate ones that you find in the road that's been hit by a car. I can never seem to get pics of bugs cause they all fly away, so I have an appreciation for people who can get pics of them. Congrats and good luck.

08/13/2002 01:07:00 PM
fantastic shot!
08/13/2002 09:42:00 AM
Nice macro! loks a little bit staged with the old and the new right next to each other, but perhaps you couldn't get a different angle, lucky find! 9 sulamk
08/13/2002 09:24:00 AM
Great photo. The background and foreground is too busy and conflicts with the insect
08/13/2002 06:22:00 AM
Very nicely done. It's a bit difficult to distinguish the subject from its environment, but then that's nature's fault, not yours :).
08/13/2002 02:04:00 AM
I can't believe you got this shot... quite amazing.
08/12/2002 11:46:00 PM
The detail and clarity in this picture is outstanding. Congrats.
08/12/2002 07:43:00 PM
Nice, You must have been at the right place and the right time to catch this. Great macro shot.
08/12/2002 06:29:00 PM
Very impressive photography! How did you ever find this? Please tell me you a) found the pupi casing and b) knew it would open so many hours/days later! If I had any kind of suggestion, it would swing to the left a few degrees to show more of the pupi casing, but it's still a 10 by my standards! Swash
08/12/2002 06:26:00 PM
oh how ugly ! but nice picture
08/12/2002 06:11:00 PM

Fantastic, the sort of photo I'd love to take. There are so many good images on this site but not alot I'd hang on my wall but this is one of them. Well Done!

Eeew!
08/12/2002 11:29:00 AM
interesting moment. a bit more contrast and color would have been great!
08/12/2002 10:58:00 AM
This definitely meets the challenge and gets a '10' for effort on the part of the photographer and also for stepping outside of the 'cliche' box. Nice job.
08/12/2002 05:39:00 AM
good shot
08/12/2002 03:48:00 AM
