The only injury involved in this photo may be to my feelings when I see the score/comments.

Isaac rested with his head on a blanket watching a video while I took 17 shots using the "rest and jerk" technique to get a motion blur in the stick while keeping his head in focus to simulate a blow.

Used a +2.0 Ev Exposure Compensation to force a 1/2 second exposure (longest I can do, I think). Used the timer and tried to time it's triggering to get the stuck in motion.

Lit by single incandescent from the left, auto white balance probably led to bits of odd color. Used one curve to adjust the overall contrast, and to wipe out most of the detail in the blanket in the lower-left. One pass with USM filter at 66% • 0.6 dia • 7 levels.

First of all, not everyone understands "coup de grĂ¢ce" I suppose.

Secondly, even when you do, the picture doesn't get any clearer IMHO. It may be an 'artsy' picture, but it's not clear enough for a challenge I think.

Just my 2 cents ;)

I'm sorry - I just don't see what this is a picture of.

Ironic title. I like the leading line of the stick, and the point of view from above the head. I'm still just a bit puzzled, however, as to what it is I'm looking at or what you're communicating here.

I'm not really sure what I'm looking at here, sorry.

I can't quite work out what this is meant to be sorry. Drop me a message and let me know so I can look at it again in a new light and rescore it.

I don't understand what this picture is so I can't judge whether it fits the challenge or not. I think I understand from the title what you were trying to do but it is too confusing for my taste.

can't quite make out what this is....someone napping on a desk, laying on their arms?

Sorry, I can't tell what this is or how it relates to the challenge. The image isn't all that appealing either.

I really don't know what to make of this image. I'm pretty sure that in the background is a woman (or man with long hair) resting her/his head on his/her folded arms. I'm trying to figure out what that pole is doing going across the image. Unfortunately it doesn't really seem to help the composition any. As a matter of fact it seems to destroy any semblance of continuity the image had going for it in the first place.

The colors are pretty bland, while the contrast is very high. The highlights are washed out and it's hard to make out detail in the dark portions of the shot.

I'm sorry, this is not one of my favorite images in this contest.

Interesting interpertation of the challenge, but it's really tough to see how your photo is a coup de grace. I guess the blurry stick was supposed to be the weapon? All I can see behind it is some hair. Great idea, but poor execution (no pun intended). :-)

Not sure I quite understand. The blurred stick in the middle of the picture is quite distracting.

This is the third time I have returned to this entry trying my best to figure out what it is. All I really see is hair and a pole of some kind but it is impossible for me to establish exactly what the image is or in what context I should be recognizing it as relating to grace--of any kind (I'm afraid your title isn't helping much). I do like the lighting on the hair and how it brings out the highlights so beautifully. Other than that, it's just not all that interesting a shot.

Means something in french, but far away from the topic of this challenge. To be honest, the play on words is not adequate here, and the picture doesn't show enough to be legible.
