Experimental- This was actually taken about 10am.
Stacked three copies of the image and changed the blending mode to multiply.
A little levels and curves for some contrast in the clouds.
Alot of USM on the bottom bit which brought up the highlights and made it look like ther are some lights on in the lower buildings.

Here's the original image

I'm amazed that you were able to create this from the original image that you posted. Those clouds are gorgeous, and I like how they are poised above the city like that. Well done!

Looking at the orij and the finished image, I would define USM as "User Supplied Magic" in this case.

Wonderfully done sire! The clouds look amazing, I was wondering how you got those at night :P... must've been a still day I thought... You've done a really great job on this one.

Thanks Tim, this was actually taken from Reabold Hill in City Beach, on the opposite side of the city. That's the hills you can see in the background. : )
Sounds like you must have lived over here or at least visited a few times? ; )

Love the treatment you have given this. Where actually in the hills was it taken?

Absolutely stunning. The deep tones evokes an almost Gotham City feel with the stormy clouds above. The wonderful mix of light and shadow is awesome. Great wide angle!!
