What does a retired person do, when a challenge like this comes up. Her first thought is no, I can't enter this challenge, but thought some more, and asked herself, what does she do each and everyday.

Two things come to mind. The first one being DPC of course. The second one would definately be phorography.

Ok, now what to do for this challenge you ask.

The answer would have to be to take the very best photograph of my favorite subject. Yes, that would have to be a photo of an Agave plant, my speciality, or my signiture image.

I hope you like this one, as I think it is now my absolute favorite out of all the Agaves images, that I have taken an photo of.

AS I AM LOOKING THROUGH YOUR PORTFOLIO FOR A PHOTO TO COMMENT ON, I AM THINKING ABOUT HOW A COLLECTION OF PHOTOGRAPHS CAN REVEAL A LOT ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER. SO IT IS ONL FITTING THAT I FIND A PHOTO ENTITLES "MY PASSION MY LIFE" BECAUSE THIS COLLECTION REALLY SHOWS A FUN AND VIBRANT LIFE. EVERY PHOTO IS FUN AND COLORFUL AND FULL OF LIFE.

Greetings from the Critique Club Shez!!

I am not sure I can say anything other that FANTASTIC!! A beautiful composition with wonderful colours that just pull the viewer in! I suppose the one and only 'negative' thing I can say about the image is that 'technically' (to all the DNMC voters) this doesn't strictly meet the challenge title. But, that said, your explanation tells us straight away the reason why this SHOULD fit the challenge!

Another lovely image from a lovely lady. Thank you for sharing this :o)

It's the prettiest one yet! (I love agaves, but the ones near here don't have as much character as yours)

Very well put in your explanation to this challenge, that was a gutsy move, and the image is the best you have done of this plant, except the one that finished up as photo of the day on times square New York.
Don't worry about the scores under 3, just sour grapes it seems to me.

Hey this is a beautifull image.. in fact the only one i'm seeing enlarged.. but without explanation i wouldn't know how it related to the challenge.. maybe a more explanatory title next time :), great going...

When you read your explanation - that you are retired and do photography as a passion every day, its clear where the link to occupation is and makes perfect sense.

This photo is stunning, I have taken many myself without getting close to the perfection you have captured. You should be absolutley proud and pay no attention to the comments below, apart from the good ones. Its definitely one of my favorites!

Thank you so much Amiee, and also the others who like that I entered here.
I nearly pulled this one out of the challenge, and actually was so close to doing that, due to some of the comments, and also the low scors amongst the very high scores that I received.
You make it worthwhile me trying to be who I am, and proud of it.
Thank you for that.....

I knew this was your shot. It confuses me how people do not see what it represents. ho-uhm.

This I believe is by far your best shot of the agave. The textures and colors are brought out and it looks like it is right in front of you. I did not get a chance to vote in this challenge but I would have given you a 10. Great photo Sherryl. Adding to favorites as my favorite of yours.

I have a few of these in my garden, but mine have all been got at by insects :-( Generally, the shape of them is very photogenic, I think.

I think the blue has been a bit overdone, though. and borderline dnmc, IMO.

Oh my oh my... why does this remind me of... vegemite? No, I mean... a place where a woman is called a Sheila? If this isn't a Sherpet image, you owe her royalties, you emulator, you! (May I tell you how much I like this image? In every way I can think of, it works.) And if you are NOT Sherpet, what a nice tribute/complement to her. It is worthy of her best work.

OK image, but doesn't convey what you do or your job. Also, way too recognizeable. ~2

Is that yours, Shez? This is a wonderfully flowing and visually exciting image..I love the tones and curves of the agave; one of your best and one of the best in this challenge.
