Thank goodness it's a b/w portrait. I'm colorblind and can never get skin tones right with color! I don't have a studio--the world is my studio (until I get lots of money!). James is simply in indirect sunlight.

David, congratulations on another great challenge entry. I am surprised this isn't much closer to the top, but glad to see there was some appreciation from the voters. However, none of that matters: you have a wonderful image of this guy James, and I bet he's going to be thrilled to have a print of this. It will look nice in the museum, too. The lighting is stunning, really perfect. He's not a bad looking guy either :-)

i think this is great technically, but the one thing that doesnt seem to resolve itself for me is the implication that he'll be using the shovel, yet his face is spotless, and doesnt really seem ready for dirty work. Well captured though, just my two cents.
