 First full day shooting with my new 70-300 VR... Pretty pleased so far. Focus could have been sharper on the beak perhaps, but considering the trouble I was having shooting through chain link I think it turned out okay.

I swear I've seen this before.... was a ribbon winner.
anyway, about this photo, I'd personally prefer a tighter crop and more details on the white feather areas, because the feathers are what draws me in.

Cocky looking bird. What's this guy have to be looking so cocky about? Probably thinks he's better than me. Look I could kick this birds ass, make no mistake about it. Let me know where I can find this overdressed parakeet and I'll teach him some humility.
