I am glad to be able to show this one in the larger 720 pixel 200 KB size. (Many thanks D & L)!!!

The General Store at Anderson Corner:

This is one of my favorite shots from 2006 mostly because of the events surrounding the shoot. I don't think I would say this is my "best" shot of the year, but it is my favorite type of subject to photograph.

I don't think of a shot like this one as just another picture of old stuff. To me it’s the entire meticulous assembly of rare antiques brought together to re-create a visual moment of time exactly the way you would have seen it had you walked into The General Store 150 years ago.

The pictures most of us are accustom to viewing from this time period are usually sepia or black/white. I am glad I had the rare opportunity to shoot pictures from the era in color. (How many people can do that)? All the pictures from the shoot look awesome as black/whites, but I wanted to show the brilliant colors and still keep the old charm intact without losing the antique feel of the era. I think I was able to accomplish a nice balance with a combination of muted sepia colors and a splash of red yellow and blue here and there.

Most of the shots were done using the natural sunlight of the rooms. I used multiple sheets of UV Ultra II outside of the windows and doors to diffuse the light and hide the optical pollution that would otherwise be showing through the doorway and windows. The full collection of photographs from this shoot will be extremely difficult to recreate.

So, This is a picture I’m proud to add to my 2006 collection. I hope some of you find the old charm I hoped to be able to capture here.

Lovely nostalgic feel you created. I don't know if you desaturated some or not, but whatever you did it works. One of my favorites of the challenge, thanks for presenting something different.

This scene is so perfect, it looks like a doll house. Nothing going on, nothing out of place, totally unused. Very nice tone, light, and composition, but there doesn't seem to be a focal point. 8

Great old General Store. Always love those. Nice job bringing out a few colorful objects to focus on. Everything else recedes nicely into the background.

Oddly, this has a look of selective saturation, rather than selective de-saturation. I like the feel, which is probably the old-fashioned thing, but those colours that are brought out seem artificially done: things like the flag, where the colours are quite muted, give the game away a little.

I really like the feel of this picture. It is really neet how the candy and colored glass pop out in color but the rest has an old time look to it.

This is excellent. I love the selective colors here. It gives some life to an otherwise empty shop. Reminds me of Charlie and the chocolate factory. Excellent. The lighting is fantastic.
