Challenge: Best of 2006 (Advanced Editing V*)
Camera: Nikon D200
Lens: Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM for Nikon
Location: Albany, California
Date: Nov 28, 2006
Galleries: Self Portrait
Date Uploaded: Jan 8, 2007

If you were to look through the frame it is currently showing The Golden Gate Bridge without commercials :).
How to choose your best shot in a year is impossible, I hope I entered my best shots in challenges, and any other choices would have been outtakes from photos I know did well and would be similar. This one I was curious as to how it would score eventhough it had tons a of views and and some favs. I hope to break my average.

I liked this photo at first (couple of months ago I think?) and still like it.

I'm glad you went with a photo YOU liked, not one you knew the voters would like (the outtakes from the challenges)

Great work Joe. Creative, pure nonsense, vivid, fresh and somewhat of a living Dali. Good luck!

So much promise in this one. The left half of the image is a 10. You really made it very surreal and capitalized on that with excellent use of the frame and skillful processing. Sadly, on the right of the image, my interest is lost because the man looks too... "normal"... he just looks like some guy who was just walking around and sat down in the chair. I cannot think of any positive adjectives to describe his facial expression. While that's not terribly bad, it does spoil the interesting mood. The background could use some blur and possibly the removal of the two big radio towers too.

It wouldn't be a best of 2006 without the Great Bandito in a self portrait! Btw, does that thing come with a remote?

Maybe darken around the shadow of the frame on model too? Just a thought.

I find the subtleties of this image sneak up on the viewer and slowly grab them by the throat. The composition, edit, and composition of this shot work together. I quite like the photo. Nice job!

Good piece of art with the stand and the change of tone. Bit of a halo around the chap's head, but nothing too distracting. 7

The death of television, or perhaps the obsession with the screen? A certain madness, especially when you're wired to your own VDU ...
