sorry I haven't commented on this sooner, been a busy week. I really like this photo. The only thing that is a little irritating, is my totally annoying ability to recall useless information at any given moment. The fact that the way you have these lined up doesn't match the "proper" order of color really hits me hard with this photo. That is TOTALLY not your fault. Completely mine. In other words, I'm not holding against you, just making an observation. And purple is missing. Anyway, I DO love this photo though. It's very colorful and I love the multiple reflection. You have great light and great light control. Focus and frame placement is great. I would love to see this again with the colors in a different order and with purple. Please don't take that the wrong way, I honestly think I'm obsessive compulsive or something. My son has it too. Great photo and good luck in the challenge.

I thought this image was very unusal and it just really captured my eye. I love shots like this excellent Job.

Nice vivid colors (especially against black), beautiful reflection, well lit, clever concept

I like the idea of the reflection but I think one reflection would have been enough. Three is too many and there are spots on the dark ble pencils. I like the carpenter pencil being in the middle.

Such a stricking photo.

Very nice picture. I like the colours and the black background. But maybe the 2 additional reflections are somehow irritating or distracting. I would have tried to get only one reflection.

I love the triple reflections and the viewpoint. Also great colours.

Composition - very good
Technical Aspects - very good
Meets Challenge - yes
Visual Impact / Originality – high
Other suggestions – top background could be a little more uniform for me.
3rd reflection is a plus.

Love the use of reflection. Very nice. :)

Excellent -- I love the humor! The background and reflective surface are very effective here. Love the photo....only thing I see that I might consider changing...the dark pencils; third and fourth from the left; seem to vanish against the dark background. I might like it better if the far end of the pencils formed a continuous line across the back.

great composition..love the reflections .

Great shot. I like the colors and the reflection.

It’s hard to get an interesting shot of pencils alone, but you have got a long way towards that goal. I really like the atmosphere created by the vibrant colours and dark backdrop. Also, the reflective surface works really well. In terms of a quality shot – it is. Personally, pencils aren’t my thing, but, I think this is a well composed picture showing good technique and flair even with the massive pencil drag factor. :o) (10)

Great color, and very sharp photo. Excellent.

This is the nicest of this type of photo, you did a good job. I love the reflective surface and black background. Makes all the colors so vidid.

I love the reflections in this shot... I wonder if this would have been a more powerful shot from a slightly higher or tilted angle? good work! = 8 - jmsetzler

Beautiful job capturing the reflection here!

Beautifully lit and I love the reflections. I was going to do something similar, but you did it sooooo much better that I'm glad I didn't. :-) 9

Interesting use of reflections though your getting a reflection from both sides of the glass. the carpenters pencil could be a couple of pencils to the left so the paint color locloser matches.

Love this photo!!

Love the lines, reflections and subject. A bit grainy.

Shar-
Great shot. I like it better with more pencils. There is one problem that I don't think you are seeing on your computer... you can see a distortion from the towel on the wall. Try getting onto Ben's computer and signing in on that one. If you can't see anything different on his, next time you are in town, stop by and I will bring it up on mine.
Otherwise great job... and I already have some great ideas for this weeks challenge... don't know if I'm gonna do it there or make a "studio" here to do it and let you find out later.

This shot is really stunning. Great execution, great title.
08/19/2002 01:07:00 AM
Creative use of colour and dof. I might have cropped a bit more off top and bottom.
Overall a pleasing shot. sulamk
