WooHoo! My PB so far! Thanks to all who left comments!
One very sharp knife, the tiny tip of a very fine carrot quartered with tiny bits of carrot leaves placed at the top, very finely sliced bits of onion, some very finely sliced and cut thin-skinned clementine orange, a cooked meat patty about the size of a dime cut into thirds, tiny slivers of green pepper, a quarter dropperful of last night's gravy, a tiny artist brush with sunflower oil on it to make things look fresh, one oval pasta dinner plate, a one meter by two meter piece of black fabric borrowed from my mother-in-law, one quartz halogen desk lamp for keylight. Overhead ceiling lamp for fill light. White focus set to tungsten. Focal length of 64 mm. This is the last of about 30 frames before I was happy with the lighting, exposure, lay out, and positioning. I would have liked to make the subject a TAD smaller but the backdrop fabric was not large enough to permit this. (Going to the fabric shop next week) DONE! - 2.5 meters purchased. Good enough for now.
Sharpen once, resize once, save for web.
And ... VOILA! I am VERY interested to see if the voters can get into my head space on this one.

Wicked execution and a great idea. Not too keen on the crop myself. I wonder if a black border would have been called foul?
I first thought that this was done with icing. My mother has made some rather impressive cakes, and had her own little collection of hand-made icing sugar toppers. |

Funny idea. A more overhead angle might have allowed for more detail on the food arrangement. |

great idea (though it's called "Nouvelle Cuisine"). a higher POV and a slightly smaller plate might have been even better |
