"Rinse"
by Vanessa Carlton

she'd do anything to sparkle in his eye
she would suffer, she would fight, and compromise
she's been wishin' on the stars that shine so bright
for answers to the questions that will haunt her tonight

she must rinse this all away
she can't hold him this way
she must rinse this all away
she can't love him this way

how she'd be soothed, how she'd be saved if he could see
she needs to be held in his arms to be free
but everything happens for reasons that she will never understand
'til she knows the heart of a woman will never be found in the arms of a man

and if she runs away she fears she won't be followed
what could be the worse than leaving something behind
and as the depth of oceans slowly become shallow
it's loneliness she finds...
if only he was mine

Another unplanned shot. I walked down to the beach with my camera and some props with the intentions of interpreting a different Vanessa Carlton song. As the sun was setting I took a bunch of different shots, with that song in mind. But... just as it was getting dark the tide started coming up and I was mesmerized by the way the water took its different shapes in the twighlight hour. I so badly wanted to be a part of that, so I layed down in it... :) it was surprisingly not very cold... i enjoyed it very much... and snapped a few slow shutter shots :). The photo shoot rapidly started becoming the interpretation of the song posted here, "Rinse". Once again, my subconscious gettin' the best of me.

Shannon, this is awesome! The song. . .it's so sad! Sad to be connected to that kind of stronghold in a poor girl's life.

Amazing photo. . .and the son adds such a haunting quality to it.

Ya' know Shannon, I've been watching your style developing over the last number of months, and in as much of a goofball you are, you are also extremely talented.

This shot - it is of a caliber and style that would be a welcome addition in a professional photographer's portfolio. I've seen some highly respected professional photographers' websites and see them display work like this in their galleries.

At this rate, you'll be seeing me standing in a line for an autograph some day, and will be telling others in the line,
"Yeah, I remember her when..."

This one feels as though we are emotionally closer to you, more connected - the water less chaotic, and warmer. You always have a way with bringing the viewer's thoughts into the image with you, or at least find powerful ways to send yours out from the page. Always enjoy your work, so that we can enjoy it too.
