Greetings from the Critique Club!

This horse is beautiful and well-groomed, and its interest in the photographer is captured in this portrait. The dramatic sky with the silhouetted woods is a great background. The composition works; the subject's eye is the center of interest, which seems to be the intent.

I imagine this was a difficult photograph to make with so much contrast in the background. Using a flash prevented the horse from being little more than a silhouette. Yet there seems to be a lack of contrast in the horse itself, especially around the muzzle; I can't tell whether this is due to the lighting, post-processing, or low compression quality. There also seems to be a slight yellowish color cast and the photo is tilted a bit.

seems out of focus in some areas that should be sharp

this almost doesn't look real, it could be a painting..how awesome is this! Good job, such an amazing capture and the clarity is outstanding! 10 from me

what a gorgeous horse! Someone has done some super grooming. The flash is a bit extreme, but it does add to the feeling that the horse is in the spotlight.

An interesting shot, but I am not sure this is a literalism, as much as it is an anthropomorphic interpretation of a phrase.

Doesn't quite seem to fit the theme of the challenge in my opinion... but I'm not really being to heavy-handed in voting on that basis this time around. :)

The horse looks so graceful with that beautiful sky behind him. A very good shot

The subject (horse) is way too dark (for my monitor at least), the lighting metering seems to be using the light of the sky, hence it's under exposed. Good expression on the horses face.

beautiful horse.. a little bright in the top right corner, dark in the bottom left. don't know how to fix it, as i'm still an amateur

Nice photo overall, but there is something that doesn;t look quite right about it, I am not sure what. Maybe softened too much? The nose just looks wrong somehow compared to the rest of it. Not bad at all though.
