Very nice idea! The green leaf is a good addition to the yellow pencil. Good composition, lighting and focus. Good work that the glass shows (almost) no reflections from your light source.

Does this work for growning new pencil trees? Interesting idea and a good shot without getting a bunch of reflection from the water and glass. It actually looks as if the roots are growing from the eraser. White on white is good. My only problem is that you don't get pencils from Ivy. It doesn't detract from the quality of the photo at all. My first impression wasn't great and I am ashamed to tell you where I first scored your photo. Rest assurred that is being remedied at this moment. =9 syamjonimi ;'-D

The clarity of this is very nice. Great focus. Lighting is perfect. Originality and creativity both apply nicely here. I like the placement within the frame. I notice a few reflections in the very bottom of the glass, but they aren't distracting at all. Actually, they add a bit of color to the photo. Also, the light glare on the top of the glass is used very nicely in this photo. Great job and good luck in the challenge.

Clever, clever! the attachments are nearly seamless, the image well shot, crisp and brilliantly lit. Be proud. Be very proud.

This is just beautiful, and also clever. I don't like the way the rest of the glass is cut off. I think if you're not wanting the stem etc in your frame maybe it would work better with a regular tall thin tumbler so there would be no need to crop some out?

Excellent idea and very attractive contrast and colors. I'm not to fond of the harsh cut-off at the bottom though.

This is such a clever idea! Nit - the root seems like it's bolted to the pencil? This is so good, I had to bump you up one, welcome to the nines! Swash

beautiful concept :) This is a really nice idea for this challenge. I love the color (or lack thereof) and the contrast in this image. I think a neat enhancement to this image would have been to tint the water a very light shade of green or blue with some food coloring... I'm not really sure, but i think that could have been a nice minor modification that would have created an even higher sense of 'wow' in this photo :) Great shot... = 9 - jmsetzler

This is excellent! great idea. well executed. simple and direct. no distractions. only suggestions would be to crop lower on the glass maybe and try a little less exposure. it seems a bit bright.
