This church actually burned 3 or 4 years ago ... maybe more. It was around 120 years old and had been founded by freed slaves in the 1800s, whose descendants were still worshipping there at the time of the accidental fire. They have not yet raised enough money to rebuild. The ruins are open to the sky and looked especially poignant in the snow. Hopefully it's not too blatantly obvious I was shooting through a chainlink fence. Might have been less obvious with a longer zoom but I didn't have one with me.

PP - rotated slightly, cropped, added a little monochrome noise, increased contrast and lowered curve in increments, USM several times, resized, sharpened again

Very touching scene, and nice title to go with it. The snow is an excellent touch, too.

Mary, this is an AMAZING PHOTO! AMAZING! I love everything about it. The ruins. The snow. The grain! What excellent photography. I'm disappointed that it only scored 6.17 -- that's a good score -- but not nearly as good as this one deserves!

Okay... whoah! This is an absolutely brilliant image. Please tell me that the snow is real and not an added effect. Coming back to bump this up now that the image has been validated. You have a great eye. Graining is subtle, but effective and enhances the mood. - 10
