Wracking my brain to try to come up with a photo for this my first challenge (I just discovered this site on Friday evening). I'd just about given up, when my 7 year old called me frantically to her bathroom. I had to chuckle when she asked me to move the toy alligator her sister had left in the bathroom because it scared her!

Things I like: Lighting is pretty nice here, but there is a touch of shadow (from the flash?) that doesn't look right. With such a light colored background you don't have hot spots which is good. Very basic color scheme. You have basically two colors here and that works nicely though colors ARE a little dull. Very cute model! I know how much fun it can be working with kids. Nice cropping to help tell the story without too many unneeded elements!

Things I don't like: This shot is a touch grainy or noisy. This is probably from the ISO setting. I have a camera similar to yours (without ALL that zoom which I want) and try to take all my shots at ISO 100. Colors like I said are a little dull. You can pull these out with levels, or hue/saturation. The alligator could use a little more light to help bring out some details. I am still trying to work out my own lighting issues so I can't give specific tips here. I also notice that your camera (like mine, ugh) has perspective issues because of the lenses used. The only way I know to help with this is always try and shoot as level as possible. Oh and your model looks like she is having a ball and doesn't really look all that surprised.

Overall a cute shot with a fun concept. If you had time to play around with it more I'm sure you could have turned it into a great one!

Good idea, but she is smiling ear to ear! Lighting could have been more interesting too.

poor girl! she seems too focused on the photographer and not the immediate threat that looms below her....i feel the colours of her towel and that of the curtain create unwanted dissonance.....

Is that little guy real? If not, he sure looks it, LOL!

A great idea and I too would be very surprised to find an alligator outside my tub, but even more surprising would be to find the gator IN the tub as you are getting ready to take a bath.

The expression on the little girl's face is very good but she's looking directly into the camera, if she was looking at the gator and screaming it would be more realistic and by looking down you might avoid the red eye that creeped in on you. A 6

Very funny. I'm not sure who looks happier, the child or the alligator. Is it a real one?
I might have tried to compose this a bit differently. The child stepping in to the tub and the creature already there. 5

This is funny. She looks like she is ready to lough. I know, my son can't hold his face serious for photos either. The composition of this photo is fine, it just appears a bit pixelated or maybe oversharpened.

Maybe a little soft on the focus and a little pixelation.

I like how you have the shower curtain sweeping down from the corner, helps guide our eye anchor the subjects in the all white background. It is a funny idea, and you had a great model. wish she and the gator were sharper.
