My first fish tank shot, yay! I don't think this is going to do very well, but at least I got some experience doing water shots...and boy did I get soaked!

The set up was actually pretty funny to look at: I had my old fish tank in my bath tub filled with luke-warm water (cold water fogs up the outside), my tripod on its lowest setting, with my camera covered in saran wrap and me straddling over all of it. I needed a lot of light, and I don't have any professional ones, so I took out the flood light (or whatever its called) and put it on top of my hamper over the tub. Then I awkwardly bent over the tub and the tripod holding my first cell phone (I got it forever ago in 8th grade, lol [don't hate me cuz I'm young, haha]) in one hand and got pressed the button, then I switched hands, put one hand behind the fish tank and used the other one to drop the phone in the water. I have to say, the hardest part of it all was the timing. I would CONSTANTLY drop it too early which was soooo frusrating! I literally was doing this shoot for over two hours because my timing sucked so bad (and I had to wipe off the glass everytime after I dropped it in). By the end of it all my whole body was shaking from being in awkward poses, I was soaking wet, and my face was hot and red from the light, ugh! In retrospect I should have taken a picture of myself b/c I looked downright hideous...

Editing wasn't too bad. I decided to do black and white because in color there was an overall yellow hue that was difficult to get rid of, and also the phone was grey anyway, so you weren't missing anything. I also did a lot of contrast, some brightness, sharpening and neatimage twice. Hope people like it.

:::After challenge:::

Seriously?! 7th place?? Cool!

Thanks everyone, I really didn't think this would do this well. The comments were helpful. The only reason I didn't stick my hand in morewas because I wasn't very good about timing the drop, and my hand would block the view of the phone. Thanks again :)

Oh, btw, I've never actually dropped my cell phone into water in real life. I got the idea from my friend who has a habit of keeping things in her back pocket. Needless to say, when she pulled up her pants after using the restroom...well, *SPLASH*
hehe, she was pissed.

this is a good idea, well composed and executed. i think it would have worked equally well without the fingers, or with a more fully submerged hand. as it stands, it looks almost as if the fingers are wading, not frantically reaching.

Now we're talking. So many great photos that don't show people as the details asked for. If they would have done like you, and included some portion of a person I'd have given 10's like I'm leaving for your photo - 10!

This week capture an interesting photo of a person using their cellular phone

The shot, while excellent, would have been better if more of the hand had been seen under the water.
