I was taking an ID photo for a new employee at work. I liked the way it came out, so I decided to see how it would look if "soft-focused." I liked the way THAT came out, so I asked (and got) her permission to use it as an entry.

Minor tone adjustment. Two passes USM at 88%, 0.8 dia, Threshold=7.
Soft-focus/vignette added as follows:
Select>All
Select>Border = 64 pixels
Select>Feather = 32 pixels
Select>Feather = 32 pixels
Select>Feather = 32 pixels
Select>Feather = 32 pixels
Select>Feather = 32 pixels
Set Foreground Color = 8% Black
Edit>Fill (Foreground Color, 100% opacity, Normal Mode)
Deselect All
Set Background Color = 100% Black
Image>Canvas Size +2 pixels all around

I don't know where they get it that this is not soft focus.
Nice shot.

I like the concept. Overall, the think her pose could have been better executed making for a more visually appealing photo.

One of my favorites. This picture has a lot of character.

In my opinion: Would have liked just a litle more softness. However, the smile on her face dosen't lend itself to the soft, pensive mood. Like the blue tints surrounding her.

Exceptional portraiture. I'm not sure about the fade at the corners, it's a tiny bit distracting somehow - but you've captured your subject beautifully. 9

This doesn't appear to be soft focus at all. I can see the softness around the edges... maybe like a spot filter or something. Your subject seems quite sharp.

Very nice portrait. I love her expression. I think she must be a woman to respect.
A little too bright in the foreground but still an excellent shot. 8
