Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Spinning (Basic Editing)
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED
Location: Grammy's house
Date: Mar 27, 2007
Aperture: f20
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/20
Date Uploaded: Mar 27, 2007

This was a lot harder than I thought. Had to have someone help me tape the camera to my head. I ended up having it jammed and taped just below my chin. There was no chimping during this shoot. Wish I could, then I'd see I needed a faster shutter speed. The D70's wireless remote was not reliable so I ended up using the self timer and getting really dizzy...over and over again. Just a little disappointed with the results but no time to reshoot.

a great capture, everything adds to this image (the white in the top left and right corners). Only drawback, and it is very minor is the focus on her face is a bit soft. Great expression....I don't even want to know how you captured this.

Eh, she looks like she's having fun! (In other words, not fond of the title). Nicely done, in my opinion!

Saw a very similar photo in a magazine a few years back, except there was a field of yellow flowers in the background. It's a fun shot though and not an easy image to capture. Good motion blur and a great expression on the subject's face.

Good Job. I was almost going to do a shot with this in mind. I don't have any children or know anyone well enough to ask to borrow their's, so I neglected to pursue it. My inspiration was from this image by Gary Friedman.

From talking with Gary, I understand it is a very difficult shot to nail. He had to do about thirty takes, and almost threw-up.

Portrays the complete joy of spinning. Aesthetically and technically nothing much. In fact, the idea is pretty much overused in this series. I think it is the best only because it shows such joy.

Me too! STOP! This is excellent and in the true spirit of the challenge. If wishes came true, I would have hoped for more focus on the wonderfully giddy face of the child - saddly I can't imagine how this would be done...bet then her legs say it ALL! I hope you do well and I will look for this one when the scoring is over... 9

Aww, cute! I really want to find out how this is done - I keep seeing pictures on DPC with totally blurred backgrounds, but the subject in focus, and they still mystify me.

Is "I" the swinger or the swingee? The swingee looks like she is having fun.

Fantastic photo! I laughed out loud as soon as I saw the thumbnail. The expression on the kid's face is priceless, as well as the title of the photo.
