Thank you all for your wonderful comments. Beautiful-Joe, in my mind the nasty thistle that poked me about 100 times is the beast :) The fly is the beauty!

Good try, it is very hard to do this technique with diffused light source like a cloudy day. Great effort.

Delightful composition - I see just enough detail in front of the thistle to create interest (vs flat silhouette) and I like the slate tones.The bee is a nice accessory too.
