Challenge: Landscape III (Expert Editing*)
Collection: Challenges 2007
Camera: Canon EOS-30D
Lens: Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
Location: Between Wiesbaden and Rudesheim.
Date: Apr 15, 2007
Date Uploaded: Apr 16, 2007

There are these huge fields of yellow stuff (don't know what it is) and I found a place to pull off and walk into this orchard near one of those fields. Got down low and personal with the dandelions and shot with the 10-22. Kinda came out the way I wanted it, but still doesn't do justice to just how pretty it is here now.

Something updated my computer when I wasn't looking which somehow changed my settings in PS. I have no idea what or how... at any rate, it unchecked my "history file" check mark, so I'm not entirely sure what all I did to this, but I'm darn sure that no expert editing was attempted. I do think I probably had one adjustment layer set to soft light blending mode, so at least there's one advanced step in there. Very minor cropping and slight rotation.

I love this photo so much. It's the way I like to see landscapes. I easily feel I can run thru that field and have a wonderful time. Just wonderful. Congrats!

I would never have thought to use weeds in the foreground like this but it really completes the picture! I love the color and the composition. Very pretty blue sky.

I like the word used by posthumous... LUSH ... that describes it beautifully. Anyway, my compliments - it is a lovely addition to your portfolio.

This is splendid! Really jumps off the page...er...screen at me. I love the perspective, which is unexpected, and the vibrancy of the shot. And somehow, the variety in the scene delights me. Really makes me feel happy. And also...like sneezing....

I love pastoral scenes, they suggest scenes in our history. Your photo is especially lovely. The dandelion time of year is memorable too. Bravo. edited for clarity...

Yeah the yellow stuff is oilseed rape, which is harvested for rape seed oil, which you can use to make stuff with. It's one of the UK's more prevailant crops.

This is really vibrant photo and a great use of the 10-22 (a lens that I haevn't made enough use of myself.) It's saying something when you can get a score like this and it doesn't even touch your top row!

Well lookee here. A 6.58. I had really hoped to see this one score well. Great colors, great perspective. The horizon tilt gives it a feel of being in the hills. Just a beautiful shot Deb. Glad to see it in your top rated. It's a beauty!

Yaaay Deb, great photo, great result and not even a train station in sight!!!

I think the fields of yellow stuff that you mention are crops of rapeseed oil, which for the last ten years or so have been appearing everywhere (can be used for producing vegetable oil for people and biodiesel amongst other things but is a real killer if you get too near it and you suffer from hayfever)

Anyway enough of the natural biology lesson, congrats again for a beautiful image

Way to go Deb. Terrific photo, and well appreciated by the voting public. I love the colors. This truly is a shot of Spring (real enough to make me sneeze) -- the cheeriest thing I've seen in ages. And in portrait orientation no less.

Deb this is so beautiful *sigh* it makes me wish we had spring here. Well officially we do but it's only about 10 minutes long and looks just like summer to me. So thank you for bringing the spring.

Very nice use of colour and good composition of your subject. The dandelions look slightly out of focus, but perhaps a close-up would prove me wrong. Regardless, this is a great shot.
