I agree this would be a terrific entry for Vanishing Point. I'm sure it would look great in b&w, but I think these colors are beautiful. You should be proud of this shot. I like the way the dock vanishes exactly on the horizon.

I like this and I also think that it would look good in b/w

One of those odd shots where there is not too much to comment about. Surprised it didn't pick up a slightly higher score really. Would have been fine for the symmetry challenge I expect or the vanishing point. You could even do a re-shoot in a moody night sky.

I think it can look fantastic in b&w!
absolutely wonderful composition, with the lines and the lamps "breaking" the straight lines.
I also wonderful how the same place would look like in vertical frame? though the horisontal one helps the sea lines to stand out.
I really love the centered comp here, very well balanced picture.

That pier looks forever long. Wonderful colours and balance too.

First off, this would be great for vanishing point. :-) I like center compositions like this - they kinda break the rules and in this case I think it works well. I can't really say there's anything I'd change about it, other than I agree it might also work well in B&W.

Hi Bob, sorry I didn't comment on this earlier. First, you got a fave, which is awesome! Second, what a bummer you took this before the vanishing point challenge came up :-)

Seriously, I think this is quite well done, especially the DOF. I didn't reach it while voting, but would have given it quite a decent score. I'd love to see just a little more brightness in the front area - the decking brought out a tad.

Great entry!

I remember this shot from voting. Dang, it would have been perfect for vanishing point, or symmetry as Jayson mentions. Great perspective - I think you hit it just right. I like it as is, but I also wonder about fooling with the color or smoothness. I'm not sure how, but maybe some kind of inversion... just for kicks. Also, I am wondering about cropping the sides a little to make it more like tunnel vision. But that might make it too generic/simplistic...? Great shot and great location, and a very decent score for a big, gawdy free study :)

Wow this is just gorgeous, perfect symmetry and I love the colours the blue railings are perfect and the timber decking ties in the colour of the beach, Beautiful beautiful.

i cannot believe you did not get more comments! love the balance of the pic. the lines of the pier lead the viewer into the depths of the picture. the water and the sky have gorgeous blues! did you use a filter?

Cool perspective - does that pier ever really end?

Nice study of lines and repeating patterns. Have you tried a B&W conversion, just because of the high contrast? A wonderful shot would have done well in symmetry too. Plus you beat me score again :)
