I've always wanted to photograph a dandilion really well and thought symmetry would be just the chance I've been waiting for. I lay the dandilion on a sheet of glass and.... nearly all the seeds fell off! I tried standing some seeds up to photograph them but every slight breath I took blew them away, so I put some water onto the glass and, lo and behold, they stood.
I really like this shot so I'm quite sure it won't do well....

THANKS voters! Never in a million years did I think last week that this would ribbon (and get a +7 score). Yippeeeeee!!

Wow, I had not seen this one before Irene. Great approach to getting these isolated like they are. Have I ever told you how you motivate me into trying new things in my studio? Thanks for that. :)

A wonderful capture. Really like the soft lighting coming in from the bottom and the details you capture of the pod tips. It wouldn't have been as magical without the water, what a neat touch :)

"I really like this shot so I'm quite sure it won't do well...."
We all proved you wrong! I have looked at this a couple of times during voting; it really is very good. I do wonder if you re-shot it, it might be worth trying to psition the seeds at the edge of the glass so that they are completely against the black background - the idea may be a logistical non-starter, but may be worth considering. Either way, I love this one!

This is a brilliant idea and wonderfully executed. The lighting and composition are fantastic. My only very minor criticism is the small dip between the black and white background around where the 3rd seed is. Great job.
