** Critique club **

Greetings from the critique club!

I for one look at the title and the image both and see them together and this photograph goes very well with the title. Selective desaturation here works great with enhancing the subject and bringing it out.

technically, you did a great job with masking for selective desaturation. I can see some noise in the image here. If possible I would shoot at lower ISO with a tripod since the subject is stationary. then you can allow for a higher dof at lower iso. I don't know how the instrument actually looks, but the color tone varies a lot in the picture, could be possible with different light falling on the parts. I would try to control that with taking the pic in shade where the light is even, that should work well here IMO.

Overall a good subject for selective desat. challenge.

thanks,
Gaurawa

Wonderful desat subject. I think the contrast might be a little too high, as some of the highlights are blown. Still, lots of great textures.

I gave this a nine; I don't think the colors look unnatural at all, just "modern". I think the shot and the processing are spot on, and nothing mentioned by the commenters during the challenge bothers me at all. I just like the image.

Wow - interesting color, Rosemary! And you did a very good job with the masking. I also like the compsition with the ground cover and the tree bark. So you started from a strong photo, which is always good. In fact, the only suggestion I have is to crop out the dark blotch on the wood to the right. That'd both remove the distraction and balance the shot left-to-right a little more. Right now there feels like too much space on the right (to me, anyway).

The violin is gorgeous! It pops out from the pic without being overbearing. Love the detail in the tree and leaves on the ground. Very nice!

This is really quite a gorgeous shot! I love the textures in the backgound and really love the color of the violin. Excellent processing on it - you should be proud of it!

I like the greens and browns, making the violin seem like a natural thing. I don't like the conventional display and composition. 7

what an unusual color for a violin? I assume this is a hue change, but I cant say that I like it.. I think I would have liked the natural redish cherry color more, the red on the bow looks nice against the desat.

Nice shot. I'm not a huge fan of the blown highlights on the tree trunk though.

could be a great pic if the colors were less unnatural
