 This is a closeup view of a heat sink from an old Pentium 233 processor. I have always thought it looked cool. The red background is a holiday placemat. I thought it looked more interesting to compose the shot like a landscape and to use limited DOF. If I was doing this with a view camera, I would have swung the lens to align the focal plane with the sharpest row of fins, but until I get $25K for a digital back, that's not really possible.

Post Processing : Bump red & green saturation a bit (10 and 15). Created a dupe layer, sharpened it and changed blend mode to luminosity, then, duped that layer and applied Gaussian Blur (rad 3), changed blend mode to color. Flattened and saved for DPC

Being a fan of limited DOF, when used to add interest, this shot does intrigue me. Colour contrast is certainly very seasonal!

Great shot here, like the DOF you have chosen.

Might have been an idea to fill the whole screen with the green 'things' as IMO the red takes my eyes first, they the items in focus.

you were right...it IS the colors of christmas :) i like it...one of the few true macros in the challenge. i like the contrastiness (i know, not a word). very edgy...literally - i like that. great job.
