deskewed perspective

this was a contender for free study. I decided to go with another one.

I like to think of this photo as a hybrid of bucket and Melethia. Ambitious, I know.

Sweet! Is that kitty I see, lost in the reflections? I love all the textures and details here.

How cool! The textures and shadows are amazing, I love the symmetry and reflections, and that cat totally makes the shot.

Love it! The top window has a lovely gritty feel which contrast beautifully with the lightness and clean look of the bottom window. The reflections are wonderful and that cat...very much the master of his domain, the shot would be lovely without him but he tips it into wonderful.

I've looked at this a couple of times I think because of the two black blotches at the bottom of the window. Everyone keeps saying cats, cats and I cannot find them. And so today - I see the kitty. I am a person who looks at a whole picture and usually misses the finer details. So at least today I got past that obstacle.

I was looking at it from the perspective of a picture within a picture. Love the way the reflections jump out of the picture and that the black blotches at the bottom pulled me away from the rest.

My initial preference would have been that there be a little less glare on the kitty face - I guess for the quick glancing people like me. However, now that I have found the kitty, I really do enjoy it the way it is.

My first thought is I'm looking out of my dark world, through a portal, into another plane or dimension. One that is bright and sunny and cheerful, only there's a catch... this world is full of cats!

my reaction to this when i see it again and again is that i cant believe i added a picture of a cat into my fav's :)

i love it, it actually makes me feel a little "closed in" i want to sit in the cats place and see what it's seeing but all i get is a tasty reflection of it.

OK possibly a bit unfair for me to react to this one as I am not a great fan of 'transclucent reflections' such as this

1. I like the grainy feel which works well with the subject and the fact that it is in B&W.

2. The reflection in the top pane of glass is great, it is sharp and the horizontals compliment the verticals of the frame

3. The transclucence of the bottom pane (for me and to my personal taste) is a bit messy and does not really add to or suit the (grainy) clarity of the rest of the image.

In a challenge I would probably score this a 5/6

Cheating. Cats, reflections and windows. SO not fair. AND a window that has warped reflections, and apparently a screen to further texturize the world beyond but brought back. I'm really rather fond of this - would have voted it highly in a free study (kiss of death, but not quite as good as yours - I've not the poetic quality to accompany mine). And I am indeed both flattered and quite honored! Oh, and forgot - without the poetic acoutrements, I'll just say that this speaks to me of protected longing, a yearning to belong to that other world, but a bit calmly assured by the protection within just the same.

The reflection of the building facade in the window has that distorted look like a home movie being played on a projector screen. Well-seen extra content in an ordinary subject. I think you're right - egads, has posthumous been reincarnated as the spawn of bucket and Melethia?
