What a fun this was!
Again I used our dog Kaja as model, but this time (compared to my Clichés-entry) I had the right light: a Hot-shoe-flash bouncing the light to the ceiling, giving a bright, but pleasant light.
The "tree" was completely setup just for the shot: a single branch I picked up in the woods. Arranged everything with the dog on the leash, otherwise he would have eaten up everything too early. After Background, focus etc. was set up, Kaja was brought close to the branch and she should pose nicely while standing. But she wasn't cooperative at all: she was always laying down, felt somehow guilty. Kirsten finally managed to get her right and I was able to make some fine pictures and now Kaja was allowed to get some treads of the tree.
Fortunately I pressed the trigger once again and made the submitted image just at the right moment.
I'm pretty happy with it and hope you like it too.
Post processing: cropping, adjustment of the brightness, taking away all cyan and blue color, resizing, unsharpening and addition of the border.

I like very much the idea, composition and everything, but the top ten model is who took the credit without a doubt:))) I hope you gave Kaja a big raw meaty bone! :)

Now, Harz, how can I send Kaja lots of swedish köttbullar???????
Congratulations:-)

Are those the same "Karllson on the roof" liked so much?
If so, please pass them to us the next time you drive from Sweden to Portugal, I live almost on the way.
However, I'm not sure if Kaja will get all of them ;)

Greetings from the Critique Club :)

Hi Harz...

Congratulations on the ribbon :) I can't really add anything that hasn't already been said. This photo meets the challenge well and is compositionally pleasing :)

Congratulations on a great picture. My dog Zack loved it. He was a little jealous expecially since his picture in the Motivational challenge did not do as well!

Great job! Impressively creative. This was genial! I like so much of the idea. It was nicely taked. I often say that great photographs starts with great ideas, but the execution is the trouble to solve.
I´m very happy by your ribbon. Continue to show to us your creative well done shots in DPC!

Just quickly made up a small video-clip of the making of this shot.
Load Tacky Kaja here. Caution: 2 MB!

To view it, you need the free DIVX-codec.
Hope you like it.

Wuhu!
I'm very excited to get a ribbon on this on, especially because Kaja was pretty sad after her Clichés entry didn't work so well.
She will get a nice and tasty bone tonight.
She as well as I says thanks to all commenter and voters of course.

I'm also excited to get a ribbon in a challenge where I'm still not sure about the meaning of it: the phrase "tacky" isn't clear to me still.
I knew that the 1st and 2nd placed pictures are right on the intention of the challenge, but was mine?!
Anyhow, was a lot of fun to make the image and I was of course lucky that I pressed the shutter at this very moment shown in the image.

So thanx again to everybody on this great site,

Jörg

After going through all of my votes a second time I still think this is the best one. Tacky? Sure... but in a really really good way! Makes me wish my dog was still alive. I\'m sure he would have enjoyed this photo as much as I. Of course I would have had to steal your idea on make a tree for him. Well done all around.

Dog's cute - decorations are not in the least bit tacky, although the meat is a bit kitsch!

Good clean shot with a nice touch.

Love it. Wonder how many snaps it took (no pun) to get this pose. Perfect pose, great background. I like the frame as well. And yes -- VERY tacky ornaments! We have a winner here!
