Poor Tildie the toaster couldn't understand it. She'd served her family well for many years without complaining. Warmed them with her smile in the mornings ....every morning. Only burned one side of the bread.... usually. Didn't complain when they shut in that dark cupboard with the smelly dishclothes. And now ....she'd been hauled out of her cupboard and thrown outside in the cold.....chucked out with the junk!! Unsafe they said. Couldn't they see she was just well loved, a little worn round the edges maybe....but she would never hurt them.

Poor Tildie .... replaced by a gleaming 4 slice monster with a cool touch exterior, high lift lever for safe and easy toast removal. I bet he never gets a name, doesn't live as long as our Tildie did.

So much feeling in this image, even without the story (which was a nice touch); perfect sharpness in the wire, but great use of depth of field to emphasize the worn aspects. Nice, neutral background helps, too. Excellent.

Excellent composition. Looks like Exhibit A as part of an arson investigation :)

Sue, this is great. I love how you coiled the cord up top with the frayed wires proudly displayed.
Love ya Tildie!

composition is strong, details are great ... you've done a wonderful job capturing the 'essence' of Tildie ... do tell, how did she get her name?

Looks like Tildie led a full life -- no need for tears. Photo definitely conveys the worn aspect. Good use of dof.

What a great tribute to Tildie. I'm crying as I write this- such a saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad story! Reminds of the "Brave Little Toaster". Good-bye Tildie!

You have me feeling sorry for the poor thing. exceptional picture and a good story. The red wire looks dangerous.

This is great, Sue. You took an ordinary thing and really made it have personality. Love the frayed cord with the red showing through!! The verdis gris on the plug really adds a pop of complementary colour.

Tildie lives on in this image. Wonderful story but I noticed you already called your new toaster "He". You can tell Tildie I can smell the toast now just looking at her.
