I dunno, been in kind of a morbid mood the last couple of weeks, just look at my April free study or the last couple of challenges, maybe most in particular the Double Take challenge. "Borrowed" this idea from a buddy of mine, www.lydur.is.

This is Daði and the one walking away is Birkir. We set out in pretty shitty weather, and it was even worse when we got to the location, rained lightly and was VERY windy, so much that it was hard to stand up straight. Was going to underexpose the backround and light Daði up with a monolight but there was just no way cause of the wind so I only used ambient lighting. Dug a big hole but just so Daði could lie down and stick his head out of the sand and asked Birkir to walk away towards the shore (this is taken at the beach at Kleifarvatn).

Post processing was as good as I could get it with basic editing, first I did raw conversion, then tone mapped the shot slightly with photomatrix. After that I used curves for contrast, channel mixer for b/w conversion and hue/sat for making it sepia toned, added frame and sharpened after resizing.

This is good work my friend. I would liked to see this picture in a little bit higher place.
You did a good copy-work but the feeling in these pictures are best when they are blowing up in big size on the wall. In my version you could see his tears.

Really interesting, though I honestly can't tell what's happening. Is it intentionally enigmatic, or am I missing something? Anyway, a high score from me.

Good image in black and white, some may question whether this meets the challenge but if they struggle to see a why thats their issue rather than yours

Hmmm. I like the frame and I lie the felling that is portrayed....

Whoa...what an emotional shot. The guy in the background with a shovel (?) really adds to the creep factor.

How much do you pay your models :P

I have no idea what is going on here, but this is the Why challenge after all :) So 10 for the beautiful tones, expression and sense of mystery. Great shot.

pretty cool but where is the why?

why indeed! This is a great image. Could have gone a little little lighter on the white shades they seems a little muted or something. It is perfect having the person in the background to create a story. Otherwise it would be another strange DPC ploy for attention... which you are gunna get but with purpose. Makes you wonder what just happen and how he ended up there as opposed to "dang, that's a good friend". lol.
