And here we have Car Number Three of three that my son has driven and said good-bye to in his brief 3 1/2 years on the road.

This Canadian made beauty (yes, Toyota apparently makes them in Canada) has been rear-ended and set on fire. But then Kyle got hold of her and now she's gone.

He was on his way home from a two week reserve training session with the Marine Corps when Clyde here suddenly started making a horrible banging noise under the hood and lost all power. When he called me from the side of the interstate asking for a ride home, he mentioned in passing that there had been a pesky oil light burning for the last couple of weeks, but he never thought to check on it.

So this one is getting donated to the Kidney Foundation. Imagine my surprise when I learned they would take a car that no longer runs! Bonnie would have made a fine donation there also, but who knew?

I promise no more cars for this fifty days. I'm all out. My boy is currently walking while he save up for the next future junk donation.

Oh, and in case anyone's interested, Here is Car Number 1. This one was a bit more serious, having flipped end over end as it rolled down an embankment.

Guardian angel indeed... Three cars down, fourth time lucky?

I would have to say that your son seriously has a great guardian angel and I hope that the same angel is with him on his tour of duty. lol I cannot believe you let him drive car #3 after what happened to #2 and #1. Great stories you have been sharing!

Hmmm, I had to check your location...One shot of junk cars burning, and your two posts...I guess it's just coincidence, but for a moment there, I was just a little suspicious :)

That sounds like something I would do...the oil light thing...and probably the embankment thing too :|

oh, man, you are so funny. Poor Clyde! It's good you can have a sense of humor about it. (don't imagine you were laughing so hard at first?) Funny: remember that I was the person with the brother who had done the same thing to my parents' cars (except he had your son beat; took him way less than 3 1/2 years). The truck he ruined? It was the exact same thing. "Gee, Mom and Dad, I'm stranded by the side of the road, the truck won't go, it made a terrible noise, and oh yeah, there's been this light on...." (If it's any comfort, he's now a steady, upstanding, college-educated 35-year-old with a very steady and respectful job who's had the same [unruined] two cars for about ten years. So there's hope.)

My goodness! Not sure why folks ignore the oil light, or don't go ahead & change the oil when the light comes on. haha. You have some stories to tell your Grandkids that is for sure!
