I have taken a long walk off a short pier with this entry here. I had a FS entry from the 1st day of the month that would have probably easily scored a 6+. Fairly DPC friendly. And then this thread came along challenging people to shoot blurry images. The first day I came up with an image that I wanted to use as my FS instead. A pic of my boy with an umbrella in the rain. A couple of days later I take the kids to another park and come home with this shot. This one stood out a bit more. How much more DPC unfriendly can I get. Nothing is in focus, the horizon is radically tilted, no vibrant colors, ROT doesnt really play out, the shot reads from upper right to lower left rather than left to right, its a kid shot, and again - nothing is in focus.

PP - RAW conversion heavy on the contrast, selective color adjustment, heavy USM, resize and border. No crop - this is how I took it. Overall very little editing especially for a FS shot of mine.

I will be so bold to make a prediction on the results of this image.

I fell short by .4 average, 2 comments and 1 fave from my predictions. Not bad. This was a thoroughly enjoyable Free Study.I love this image and I love the response it got on it. Thank you to all who commented or faved. I truly appreciate it.

And thanks to aliqui for a most appropriate original comment. Let me just say that I think you had the spelling correct first time around.

This is still a very remarkable image. I like re-visiting it from time to time.

This is a remarkable image for its lighting and sense of otherworldliness. I was going to say the tilt is a bit too extreme for my taste, but as I sit here I can't imagine it having the same striking impact with a lesser tilt - maybe that's what makes the 'wow' effect for this shot - how it goes so flagrantly against our expectations of a more leveled composition.

Wonderful capture. That tilt worked splendidly.

This is a most unique image! Kudus to you for having the self confidence to run against the grain and put something totally original in a challenge.
I like the image a lot too. The tilt seems to connect with the whole "kid in a walking daydream" concept.

I had given this a 10 during voting. I LOVE it. The blur...the tilt...wow!

This is a fully-expressed concept, a very sophisticated and emotive image. Among serious lovers of of photography, this would have been easily a top-10 image in FS.

BTW, did you notice that your profile picture is tilted at the same angle as this picture? No wonder the tilt is so extreme!

Maybe a visit to a chiropractor is a good idea :)

I love this. Border is too think for my taste and I don't like the extreme tilt of the horizon but I love the motion, the colors and how it appears as if a light from about is shining on her. Isn't blurry beautiful! Too bad more people can't get into this.

WOW!!!!! This is fabulous! I like aliqui's comment too :) I wish the dpc voters would be a little kinder to awesome out-of-the-box works of art!

This has such a mythical look to it. Mysterious in a wonderful way that makes you want to see more!

More please? :)

oh, and I like the diagonal a lot too!

Not bad finish, considering you were pushing folks way out the comfort zone with the blur thing...you did nail a pretty amount good high score votes too

Outstanding shot, as I mentioned earlier. Now learn how to frame a picture properly and you will collect ribbons again :)

LOL, Tim. I'd say your commenters failed your predictions miserably, since they rated it a 7.0! :) This is really cool - a great example of how to use blur.

I loved this and gave it an 8. Fantastic shot and very underrated by the nerd voters.

Bah! I was wondering where the last of my four 10's ended up.

lol I just reread my previous post during the challenge. I meant to say "masses" not "asses," but I think I'll leave it, heh.

The artistic tilt and the motion blur just seem to fit perfectly. The ray of light(or transporter beam) complete this fun and creative photo. Well done!

the blur works PERFECTLY here. I also really like the angle, although I think this would be better flipped so tthat she is running to the bottom right. people are used to reading from left to right and it would give it more of a sense of motion and purpose

lovely image, good lighting, the blur works well here, and I love her pink shoes & dress against all the muted brown & black

This is actually really cool. I'm not sure how well it's going to go over with the asses, but it's very interesting. I'm not sold on the border, but overall this is fantastic. Welcome to my favorites.

Comment only - no vote (and probably won't get to vote 20% in this challenge anyway.) At this point in time, this may very well be my favorite shot of yours. This be art. It's also magical.

interesting shot, good color, like the motion blur and light. tilt is too heavy IMO, border is overdone, it spoils the simplicity of the image

This diesn't work for me. The concept is there, but it isn't a concept that I like. 5.
