Since you're a young man, I don't know if you realize just how powerful this image is. As an aging woman (never a looker to begin with, either), I find this very poignant. We never see ourselves as we are, but how we want to be. This is perfect.

Just now saw this and I'm in awe! That's probably the best title I've ever read on this site. It forced me to miss the reflection and see just the city (and the old woman) then the reflection "appears" before my eyes as if on cue...

Young and old, dreamers all the same.
Awake and asleep.
The future, the past.
Light and dark.
Starting and finishing.
Contrasts abound.
Wake up...or maybe dream some more.

Yea, we are! ;-) You managed to really polarize the votes on this one...in its own way, that's a good thing!

Great shot, my favourite of the challenge, by-a-mile.
Great vision to see this, everything else i secondary to the reflection, even the perfect exposure, brilliant focus on the lady and exceptional composition. The viewer is given a glance at the boy's real head, but only to prompt you to look at the window.
Can you tell i like it?

Well observed - Very subtle, yet very effective. I wonder what she was thinking about/dreaming of?

some candid! I would never attempt this on a bus or train.

I don't really understand the dreams portion of this but I do love the picture. Great black and white and the comparison of the person in front with the reflection of the younger person is just excellent.

You captured the dream essence--could be simple, dreamy reflection of gal behind the old woman or, it could reflect the ethereal dream of the woman--when she was young, her granddaughter, etc. Very effective & B&W & perfect exposure. This one should take a ribbon.

Such a little thing makes a huge difference. I was about to rate this about a 4 until I noticed the reflection. It is easy to criticize this from many angles - it breaks many "rules". You've cut the face of the person in the foreground (incidentally, about the only part of the picture in focus) in half. My only comment is that it may be too easy to miss the young man's reflection in the window, and thus miss the entire shot. It is a great image, and works well in b&w. Excellent work - hope you don't get graded down because people don't really see what is there.

Beautiful, and I love how the reflection is the subject, even though the older woman's face draws the viwer's attention first.

This is great. Breaks a lot of rules, but I like it a lot. I bet you wish you could have got rid of the white spots on the woollen hat. They are a bit distracting, but what can you do in Basic. Everything else is just perfect.
