Challenge: Road Signs Re-revisited (Basic Editing I)
Collection: Portfolio
Camera: Olympus D-490Z
Location: Berkeley, California, USA
Date: Jan 17, 2004
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/200
Date Uploaded: Jan 17, 2004

Driving up Center Street I noticed this odd, wavy line painted down the pavement. I took the shot out the driver's-side window pointing backwards.

Cropped to square, used a couple of tone curves to adjust contrast and color, sharpened and added the border.

Still like this one a lot. And remember it whenever I think of your photography.

Berkeley's Blue Line

Hadn't seen this one before, weird picture. Actually, the picture is not weird, the line on the street is. Actually, not weird, just unusual. How long does it go on? It's a beautiful blue. Would make driving rather difficult, I tell the kids that it's imperative to avoid touching all white lines while driving, and I wouldn't know what to do with a blue line. Hmmmm. I don't know.

Maybe that's what they use for the sobriety test. Walk the blue line. Photographically, I think this would have looked a little better if you took it from the middle of the road from way down low to bet the straightness of the yellow line and the blue line going all over the place. I think the part of the red car on the left side doesnt add anything photo wise. Just my perspective...and we know what that's worth!

The low viewpoint, unusual angle/ composition, interesting diagionals and strong use of colour all combine to make this one of my favourite entries in this challenge.

I like the composition - the yellow lines such a strong diagonal, and the blue waing back and froth. The car and the top and bit of a car at the left frame it nicely. Wish I could understand what the blue line is for by looking at the picture. The image lacks meaning.
