Clearly Judi, you have to live in a large city to qualify to enter the Street Photography Challenges. I have travelled through some of the most remote places in Australia, and to be honest, the guy in your photo would be considered overdressed (as I am sure you have witnessed too).

Keep up the good work and pay no attention to the big city slickers that need an outback holiday (or should I say vacation :) )

Now for my spin on your shot, awesome. I really love the processing and if you look long enough your processing has given this shot near three dimensional effects. Colour tones and shading are perfect for this setting. I too cannot work out what is in the background, however as I said above, it does not mean that it is not so.

ETA - A place called McKinlay, Queensland springs to mind. Passed through here a few years ago and the guy that worked in the petrol station could not even tell me how far it was to the next town with fuel. Check out the images of the place here and imagine some of the Street Photography and associated characters that would be here.

The sign in the second last shot was not present when I stopped in while travelling from Darwin through to Sydney :)

Take it easy Judi.

Judi- excellent photograph all the way around - but I really didn't see street when I voted (but gave it a 7 for quality). I guess it is due to my bias for streets being big cities, concrete and big buildings.

Nice capture - Like the tones - but would like to see some more of his surrounds though

The only problem I see here is the photo appears to be contrived. Street photography is a form of documentary work and should be candid, not staged. If I'm wrong I apoligize. It's a very good shot otherwise.

way to much editing in this(imo)...if you were going for the sepia tone-bronze cast, I still think it makes the photo look as though it is really trying to do something more than it is. The facial expression is nice however-5

This hardly look like a candid, but I like it. The colors are great and the composition nice!

Great photo and I would have scored it high in the proper challenge. Consider entering a similar, but different shot in the monthly free challenge. Until then, DNMC.

I like the gritty feel here, reminds me of Crocodile Dundee! : )

it's nice. i like the effect you put on this...wouldve been better to me if it were wider and showed more of the blurred background

Nice photo but it seems staged and doesn't see like "street life" more like "wild life"
